The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T116) is a low-end tablet released in 2014, featuring a 7-inch display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, and 1GB of RAM. By 2021, official support had long ceased, leaving devices vulnerable and sluggish. This paper examines the state of custom ROM development for the SM-T116 in 2021, focusing on available third-party firmware, installation methods, performance improvements, and limitations. We conclude that while development was sparse, dedicated community projects extended the device’s usability for basic tasks.
