Filocalia is a spiritual movement that originated in the 18th century in Russia, particularly among the Eastern Orthodox Christians. The term was popularized by a collection of spiritual writings and teachings compiled by Saint Makarios of Corinth and Saint Nikodemos of Trebizond. This collection, also called "Filocalia," contains the works of various early Church Fathers, such as Saint Antony the Great, Saint Hesychios the Priest, and Saint Diadochos of Photiki.
