Belgium’s 1991 puberty education was a product of its time – reactive to AIDS, biologically focused, and gender-segregated. The represent a fundamental shift toward holistic, inclusive, and skills-based sexuality education . While implementation gaps remain, Belgium now ranks among European leaders in compulsory CSE. The separation of “boys and girls” has been replaced by learning together about each other’s development – a critical step for respect and empathy.
By providing comprehensive and inclusive puberty sexual education, we can empower boys and girls in Belgium to navigate this critical phase of life with confidence, respect, and a deep understanding of themselves and others.
