For the uninitiated, Kismat Konnection follows the story of , a brilliant architect who believes he is unlucky. Everything he touches turns to failure. After saving a child from a car accident, he meets a guardian angel-like spirit (played by Om Puri) who grants him four "lucky charms" – but there is a catch. The luck only lasts for a limited time, and he must use it to save a community center from being demolished by a greedy developer.

Along the way, Raj falls for , a social activist who ironically works for the very businessman trying to tear down the center.
