Joint Push Pull Sketchup 2021 Jun 2026

Never apply JPP to loose geometry. Always triple-click to select all faces, make it a group ( G ), then apply the extrusion inside the group context. This prevents JPP from accidentally welding adjacent geometry.

| Concept | Explanation | |---------|-------------| | | Original face(s) selected before extrusion. | | Normal direction | Average direction for non-planar selections. | | Thickness mode | Creates a solid shell (offset inward + outward). | | Vector mode | Extrudes in a custom direction (not just normal). | | Follow mode | Extrudes along a path or vector. | Joint Push Pull Sketchup 2021

This mattered especially in remote workflows that increased reliance on well-formed geometry. Files shared between collaborators, or passed downstream to renderers, engineers, or CNC operators, needed robust topology. The improved Push/Pull helped close the gap between a designer’s intent and the exported reality. Never apply JPP to loose geometry

Extrudes multiple faces simultaneously while keeping them "joined" at the seams, perfect for thickening curved surfaces. | Concept | Explanation | |---------|-------------| | |
