Note: This guide applies to most OMRON USB-enabled PLCs (CP1 series, CJ2 series, CS1 with USB port, CP2E, and some NJ/NX controllers). The driver is typically the same for all: the OMRON FINS USB Driver .

1. Prerequisites Before starting:

Admin rights on your Windows 11 PC. The CX-One or Sysmac Studio installation DVD or ISO (the driver is included with the software). Alternatively, the standalone driver file ( OMRON USB Driver from OMRON's website). USB cable (Type A to B for CP1/CP2E/CJ2; or Mini/Micro USB for some models).

2. Disable Driver Signature Enforcement (if needed) OMRON drivers are signed, but on strict Windows 11 installations, you may need to temporarily disable signature enforcement. Steps:

Hold Shift and click Restart . Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart . Press 7 or F7 for “Disable driver signature enforcement”. Windows will start. Install the driver now (see Section 3).

Install CX-One or Sysmac Studio (run as Administrator). Reboot if prompted. Power off the PLC. Connect the USB cable to the PC. Power on the PLC. Windows will detect new hardware → Open Device Manager (right-click Start button). Look for an unknown device or a yellow triangle under “Other devices” or “OMRON Devices”. Right-click → Update driver → Search automatically for drivers . Windows should find: C:\Program Files (x86)\OMRON\Drivers\USB (or similar).

4. Manual Driver Installation (Standalone) Step 1 – Obtain the driver Prerequisites Before starting: Admin rights on your Windows
